Heather Tesch
BORN: 3/67 (exact date unknown), Buffalo, MN
INDUCTED: 2007, 80-percent majority
The Weather Channel is famous for reporters standing outside during hurricanes and snowstorms, but Hair Fans long have been impressed by the women who stay safely in the studio. Many of them wake up to Heather Tesch, admiring what one supporter of her induction called "always soft and super shiny" locks.
Tesch seems to prefer short styles. This picture from the home page of an online fan club (date
unknown) shows a well-polished "helmet" look, shaped to stop at the nape of her neck.
But in the early 21st century, Tesch adjusted her hair to look longer and looser. Many Hair Fans
marvel at how she sets a strip of bangs or longer hair at the edge of her left eye, seemingly one wrong move from collapse.
Yet Tesch's tresses are deceptively solid, and rarely move on camera at all.
Tesch won the first Crown Award for Best Hair in Science and Meteorology in 2003. She gained the title again in 2005, 2007 and 2009, while stepping up to win the top-level prize of Best Short Hair for 2006. Tesch became the first Weather Channel meteorologist to win an award outside her specialty -- a testimony to the popularity of her styles, and the skill she shows in keeping them looking sharp every morning. She's one of only two meteorologists to earn a "Project 20/10" spot for the best hairstyles of a decade.
