Natalie Allen
BORN: 1962, Memphis, TN (Further details unavailable)
INDUCTED: 2003, 85-percent majority
CNN has presented several news anchors and reporters with top-flight hair over the years, but few caught the eye of Hair Fans quite like Natalie Allen. She arrived at the Atlanta headquarters from Orlando, and proceeded to impress viewers by displaying "anchor hair" in every positive sense of the term.
Allen showed a variety of styles, through about a decade at
CNN. Hair Fans enjoy debating which one was her best -- whether neck-length or a bit
below the shoulders, whether with bangs on the forehead or without. Whatever Allen
chose, she wore it well. Blessed with extra-thick strands, they held obediently to any
adjustment she made -- and held especially tightly when she was on-camera, or wore
her style close to the eyes.
Allen was the top-ranking person from CNN's main channel to place
in the Super-Hair Ultimate 50 list, at #7. Many were disappointed when she left the
news business, to train newscasters part-time for an Atlanta company. But Allen
returned to the air in July 2003 on the program "Extra," then became a freelance reporter for MSNBC in early 2004. Countless Hair Fans hope
she'll stay before public cameras for a long time to come.
