Suzy Kolber

BORN: 5/14/64, Philadelphia, PA

INDUCTED: 2016, Veterans Committee

Suzy Kolber has covered a variety of sports in her career, but some fans call her the "First Lady of Football." She's developed a basic hairstyle which often can be as tough as an N.F.L. showdown. At its best, layers reach to the nape of the neck or below, and are flared at the ends. But the lengthy bangs above her left eye often provide the real drama for Hair Fans.

Just as many football games are about performing well in challenging conditions, Kolber's styles frequently have done the same. One classic test came outside a Detroit hotel, before Super Bowl XL in 2007. Winter wind blew fiercely, yet the key bangs above Kolber's left eye barely budged. They finally might have dropped slightly into the eye, but microscopically.

Kolber's cut was the first to become a two-time winner of the Crown Award for Best Short Hair. Her first win in 2003 was coupled with the prize for Best New Original Style. Then she became a Super-Hair Wars undefeated champion in 2009, defeating fellow Hall of Fame member Jennifer Aniston in the quarterfinal round. And Kolber proved her endurance by winning the 2013 Crown for Best Hairstyle in Sports Reporting. She's proof not everyone in that profession needs to display long flowing blonde hair to be successful - on television or with beautiful styles.
