Stefanie Powers
BORN: 11/2/42, Los Angeles, CA
INDUCTED: 2017, Veterans Committee
Stefanie Powers's career has had several distinct phases. Some Hair Fans discovered her on TV during the mid-1960s. Many more came to appreciate her in the late-70s and early-80s. Her thick reddish-brown hair has faced numerous dramatic moments on camera, and often come through with impressive beauty and control.
Powers's breakout starring role was as The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. in 1966. Her basic shoulder-length style was ready for action, thanks to bangs which kept hair out of her
eyes. One exceptional moment came when villains dangled her upside-down and "hair first" over a tank of human-eating piranhas. Powers found a way to escape unharmed, with the hair somehow
staying out of her face in the process.
A shorter style captivated Hair Fans, when Powers co-starred in Hart to Hart. At its best, it was cut in soft-looking seemingly endless layers. With possibly
some help from perming, they allowed for a lot of bouncy movement in action scenes. Yet over several seasons, rare (if ever) was the episode where something blew Powers's style down to
destruction.
The early 21st century found Powers recording music and writing books. The basic hairstyle which made her famous didn't change much, except for
occasional experiments with more length. Powers is proof that subtle changes over time can bring long-lasting hair success.
