Brooke Shields

BORN: 5/31/65, New York, NY

INDUCTED: 2014, 79-percent majority

The natural beauty of Brooke Shields made her a movie star at age 12, and a modeling sensation during her teens. Her thick long styles made Shields a top-level attraction for Hair Fans, beginning in the late 1970s. The hair flowed naturally often, and seldom seemed to fly out of line and into her eyes.

Shields was a favorite of magazine covers in her youth, displaying hair which looked perfect yet potentially vulnerable. This cover of Life at age 16 made Hair Fans wonder how well the long hair would hold at full gallop. Yet when pressed....

....Shields could make her styles display at-the-brink all-out hold. This picture also comes from a Life photo shoot of the 1980s, with normally well-hidden bangs coming out to protect long hair from collapsing. Waves, teasing and occasional perms also are tricks she's used with attractive effectiveness.

Shields has kept long hair throughout her career, including the TV comedy Suddenly Susan. One or two scenes in that series actually allowed Shields to poke some fun at her classic thick tresses. They've certainly been fun for Hair Fans to watch and admire, while waiting to see what Shields might do with them next.
