Marlo Thomas
BORN: 11/21/37, Detroit, MI
INDUCTED: 2024, 85-percent majority
Marlo Thomas grew up in the shadow of a famous father, singer-actor Danny Thomas. That connection may have helped her become a TV star in the years around 1960. But an iconic hairstyle of that decade helped secure her stand-alone fame, and she went on to display impressive hairstyles for decades.
Thomas starred for five years in That Girl, and probably is best remembered for a shoulder-length cut with bangs across the forehead and full-flipped curl on either side. It was hard to imagine anything knocking the style into her eyes. But the thickness of Thomas's hair allowed her to adjust to more free-flowing looks which still looked stunning - sometimes with bangs, sometimes without.
Thomas's life work has included projects promoting feminist causes, as well as the family charity of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. This 2022 photo promoting a Hallmark Channel movie showed Thomas still could have an attractive style in her mid-80s. Even as a mature woman, she had "that" quality which keeps the interest of Hair Fans of all ages.
