The Ultimate 50
19. Martha Quinn
2006 Update
We're disappointed, nay saddened, to have to post this update. The "mighty Quinn" we once knew has let her hair become average -- a middle-ager with long hair which she lets flop in her eyes, as in this picture. No precision in the cut. No perfection in the lines. None of the risky-looking-yet-secure stuff Hair Fans wanted to get their hands on and try to muss years ago. Times change, and sometimes that's sad to consider.

2004 Update
According to the International Movie Database, you should properly call her Martha Conrad Tarlow now. She's apparently content to be a wife and mother of two in southern California -- though she occasionally surfaces on the air, such as an occasional music info-mercial and the radio program "Rewind."
Our picture above comes from the 20th anniversary party for MTV in 2001, and a BBC tribute section. It displays Quinn's classic winning style -- with well-cut bangs, and bouncy long hair to the shoulders. But sadly, we could find no newer photos that this.
There's a surprising group of old shots at the French site Celebrities Selection. If you know how to contact (ahem) Mrs. Tarlow, please let us know we'd like to share her current style with Hair Fans!

2002 Update
Quinn's become a spokesperson
for "La Leche League" in the last couple of years.
But by and large, she's evaporated from public view
like a can of milk. She's no longer on CBS in the
morning. (Thankfully Susan McGinnis still is.) And
celebrity-tracking web sites report her last TV
appearance was a game of celebrity "Weakest
Link."
Our photo is from what we consider her best hair years, in the 1980s. The side view shows how well she's worn her style close to her eyes -- yet how well cut the strands are to stay out of them. We think good thickness plays a factor in her hair control as well.
This is a case where we've already made a link to the best gallery of a Super-style on the web. Look for it on our main page, and we think you'll see nothing quite like our version of a "Mighty Quinn."
