March 2005: Bangs Swept Away, Page 3

A recent issue of InStyle magazine reminded us of the risks involved with sideswept bangs. LARA FLYNN BOYLE either didn't sweep them up enough, or the long wave drooped in the course of a "fashion week" event she attended. Perhaps a spritz of spray would have helped here.

JENNIFER ANISTON may have been growing out some bangs when this picture was taken. People who have followed her for years know she might not mind hair flopping down in her eyes. But a bit of curl at the tips would keep the style out of danger - though it still would be high-risk hair.

SUMMARY: Great bangs may be no more than three inches long, but that can be enough to get Hair Fans' attention. Some admire solidly-set hold and control (see Susan McGinnis and her stack of Crown Awards). But for a mix of mystery, drama and romance, you can try a "sweeping change" - which as we've seen doesn't have to be drastic at all. With careful preparation, brushing bangs to the side can create a look that's both functional and alluring.
