May 2006: Mid-Length Masterpieces, Page 2

SUMI DAS is a current CNN reporter with mid-length hair we know many Hair Fans enjoy. It's similar to the McDonald cut -- but what makes it different, and would it be competitive?

ADVANTAGE: Sleek, perfect lines of hair. She obviously appreciates flawless grooming.

DISADVANTAGE: Not as much curl or body, by comparison. This delicate look can be pushed around by wind (it's dangerously close to collapse here), so we doubt it would last as long in a fight. She's also lacking in "warning bangs" to serve as a buffer.

JULIE BANDERAS is a Fox News Channel reporter , with hair perhaps parted slightly farther to her left.

ADVANTAGE: Can add curl at the ends to match McDonald; a touch of teasing at the crown for control (something McDonald has seldom done).

DISADVANTAGE: Sometimes can be straight and flat, which without spray is asking for trouble in the elements. She also lacks bangs for support.

GIGI STONE is an ABC News reporter.

ADVANTAGES: Perfect lines of hair again, plus some teasing - and a bit more body than the others so far. We noted when we posted her on our Hot List that her style tends to last.

DISADVANTAGES: No bangs again make this risky -- and we suspect she relies on spray a bit much for that long-lasting look. McDonald doesn't seem that reliant on it; somewhat natural curl vs. an unnatural "shell" could prove the difference in a battle of attrition (and we'd want to see one).
