The Crown Awards



Like them or not, every quality competition has rules - and our Crown Awards do as well. Here are the eligibiliy rules for our categories....

Best Short Hair and Best Long Hair: This is based on hair length at the nomination deadline. If a woman's hair touches her shoulders, it is considered "long."

Best Curls: A woman must have displayed curls at any point in the nominating year.

Best Hairstyle on Television: A woman must have appeared in some kind of television program during the nominating year, other than a journalism, weather-centered, sports program or soap opera/telenovela (since they have separate categories). [Updated 2007/2019]

Best Hairstyle in a Movie: A woman must have appeared in a movie released theatrically during the nominating year. Movies released on streaming services are allowed, as of 2020.

Best Hairstyle in Music: A woman must have performed musically during the nominating year, either in person, online or by release of a recording.

Best Hairstyle in Athletics: A woman must have competed, coached or overseen an athletic event during the nominating year. Broadcasting an event does not count, as that is a separate category.

Newcomer of the Year: A woman must make her first appearance on Super-Hair.Net either during the nominating year, or by nomination for this category.

Best New Original Style: Category retired in 2014.

Super-Hair Wars Champion Hairstyle of the Year: Awarded to the winner of the Super-Hair Wars playoffs.

Best Bangs: A woman must have clearly displayed bangs at some point in the nominating year.

Best Blonde/Brunette/Redhead/Silver Hair: A woman must have displayed hair matching the category color at some point in the nominating year.

Best Hairstyle in Journalism: A woman must have presented some sort of journalism during the nominating year, other than in weather, sports or financial reporting (since those are separate categories). [Updated in 2007/2019]

Makeover of the Year: A woman must have made a noticaeble change in her hairstyle during the nominating year; consult Cutting-Edge Hair News for examples of this.

Best Hair in Science/Meteorology: A woman must work in a scientific field or presented a weather report during the nominating year.

Best Hair in Government/Politics: A woman must hold a government position, campaign for a government position or be the spouse of a government employee during the nominating year.

Best Hair in Sports Reporting: A owman must have presented some kind of sports report during the nominating year, either taped or live.

Best Ponytail: A woman must have displayed a ponytail during the nominating year; consult Wikipedia for a definition and examples of this.

Best Hairstyle in Financial Reporting: A woman must have presented some kind of business or financial report during the nominating year.

Best Hairstyle in a Soap Opera/Telenovela: A woman must have appeared in a television "soap opera" or telenovela during the nominating year.
