Jenny Anchondo
BORN: 6/10/82, Coeur d'Alene, ID
INDUCTED: 2015, 76-percent majority
When Jenny Anchondo was hired by a Dallas-Fort Worth TV station, one media website did not name her in its headline - noting instead she was a "Champion Hairstyle of the Year." That title may be Anchondo's biggest claim to celebrity fame, as she won the 2011 Super-Hair Wars championship. But she quietly developed top-quality hairstyles well before that.
Anchondo began her TV news career in Washington state in the early 2000's. Her styles at the evening anchor desk were kept short. But she went longer as she advanced to southern Arizona, where Anchondo first was brought to Super-Hair's attention - and longer still as a reporter in Indianapolis in the early 2010s.
Anchondo showed a mix of straight and varying-wave styles when she entered Super-Hair Wars in 2011. Despite a regular-season loss to fellow Hall of Fame member Connie Britton, she prevailed in a classic final-round showdown with Meredith Ley which inflamed regional loyalties and finished with more than 3,000 total votes. Anchondo showed that was no fluke by winning a second Crown Award in 2012 for Best Hairstyle in Journalism, topping better-known national reporters.
Anchondo admitted during the Hall of Fame voting she's her "own glam squad." She's revealed not only personal styling secrets on her busy Twitter feed, but also some awkward hair moments. It's all combined to make Anchondo a local news reporter with a growing national Hair Fan following.
