EuroCup 2020
** JUKO-NYTRO LIGHTS UP LITHUANIA! **
When it comes to European "dynasties," it's easy to think of royalty, such as the Hapsburgs. Some might think of sports, such as Bayern Munich soccer. But where would you turn for a hairstyle dynasty on "the continent"? Thanks to our EuroCup tournaments, the answer has become clear. Teenage model Viktorija Jukonyte provides Lithuania with back-to-back titles in 2020!
At only 18, Jukonyte and her extra-long hair have amassed 260,000 Instagram followers. Perhaps they helped her win a very tough group, then emerge at the top of our record 24-country tournament. "VikiTuks" came from behind in the Championship Final to defeat former Miss Iceland Hildur Leifsdottir with 71 percent of the vote. It was easily Iceland's best showing ever on our site, even though one voter took Leifsdottir to task for her roots.
The Consolation Final was much closer, with Belgium's Anissa Blondin edging Kosovo contender Fatbardha Hoxha by a 53-percent margin. That means an automatic place for Belgium in Super-Hair World Cup VI, while Kosovo and four quarterfinal losers must wait.
A record number of entries from the public led to our first-ever six-group tournament. It proceded online, while other Euro-events were sidelined by COVID-19:
GROUP A:
AUSTRIA: SAMANTA CESTIC.
An eyelash stylist currently based in Germany won her tight group by an eyelash.
Austria 7 points, Ukraine ("Ulyana") 5, Ireland (Lynn Gilmartin) 3, Spain ("Andrea RM") 0.
