B.M.O.C.: Best Manes On Campus - 2021-22

#BMOC

CREIGHTON: MALLORY BRAKE.

A Hair Fan apparently was so impressed by the women's basketball team's playoff success that the entire team was nominated! Our "final four" ended with victory for a sophomore from Minesota who's racked up about 6,000 Instagram followers. Her final-round 6-1 drubbing of Carly Bachelor feature this predictable comment: "Mallory Brake's for Super-Hair!" [Final 5.21.22]

Third-fourth place: Payton Brotzki, Emma Ronsiek tied.

FLORIDA STATE: CHLOE CULP.

She has fans chanting "Chloe!" at softball games. We don't think it's for her hair, but this redshirt sophomore won the Tallahassee City League for mid-length strength that even survivsed a Hair Pressure challenge. [Posted 5.21.22]

ALABAMA STATE: KYANA EVANS.

A fifth-year senior from Detroit ends her career as a conference champion in the 100-meter dash. And who wouldn't want to race long high-risk red-hot hair like this? She finished fourth in a tight City League contest in Montgomery. [Posted 5.21.22]

NEVADA: KALLAHAN HUNTER.

We don't know her major, but Hair Fans have reason to borrow from an 1980s song and be "Hungry Like the Wolf" for this member of the Wolfpack softball team. A junior who transferred from Seattle had little opposition becoming the local City League champ during this term. [Final 4.30.22]

CARNEGIE MELLON (PA); HONORA ARMFIELD.

A Hair Fan suggested six women at an unlikely location in Pittsburgh. This first-year student with an unlikely (for us) chemical engineering major prevailed. She gained a tie-breaking vote to defeat soccer teammate Helena Spencer 5-4 in the final. [Final 4.24.22]

Third through sixth place: Cora Marcet, Erin Westburg tied; Cecilia Dieterich, Marissa McAfee tied.

SAVANNAH STATE: KAMERYN BAKER.

This senior majors in business management and knows softball well enough to earn conference Player of the Week honors. And she clearly knows something about hair, because she's a "receptionist/stylist" at a salon. No wonder she tied for fourth in a local City League contest. [Posted 3.26.22]

OREGON: SYDNEY PARRISH.

We don't know her major, but this sophomore traveled from Indiana to play basketball for a national contender. A Hair Fan offered her after she abandoned a crimpy style for marvelous soft waves. [Posted 3.19.22]

AUGUSTA (GA): MARY TILLMAN.

She strikes out a batter an inning, as a softball pitcher. And the long waves of this senior kinesiology major struck a chord with Hair Fans, as she won the Augusta City League title. [Posted 3.12.22]

FRANKLIN & MARSHALL (PA): GIA ANGIOLILLO.

A college with two names prompted a seven-way contest. This junior on the softball team gets the 62% second-week win for a thick side-combed style, even though this recommended photo is from last season. [Final 3.5.22]

Second through seventh place: Shannon Briggs, Zarine Gidwaney, Makenna Penuel tied; Sarah Gartner, Aryaa Ogale, Sarah Tsai tied.

ARIZONA STATE: EMMA BROYLES.

You may be surprised to learn that this junior Honors College student majors in biomedical sciences in Arizona. That's because she moved from "Miss Alaska" (her home state) to Miss America during this term. We'd like to think her great long hair helped. [Posted 2.12.22]

UCLA: ANNA DODSON.

Her waves may look California "beachy," but she's really a redshirt sophomore from Colorado. Redshirt, as in volleyball. Future, as in attending law school and becoming a sports attorney. [Posted 2.5.22]

LOUISIANA STATE: MOLLY THOMPSON.

She's crossing the river to be a graduate student at Mississippi and play one more soccer season. But this biochemistry major has a thick, sturdy style which impressed enough to enter a Baton Rouge City League contest, when her classmates did not. [Posted 1.29.22]

LASALLE: BELLA GONSIEWSKI.

She'll be gone from campus before long, as this suggestion from a Hair Fan is a senior. But check her player profile from the soccer team, and you'll see how her hair has developed through the years to a plush soft sidepart. We don't know her major, but may she impress as much in whatever she does next. [Posted 1.22.22]

SYRACUSE: MADDY BAXTER.

There's absolutely no need for a contest here, because this sophomore took care of everything in the City League - blanking seven other students, plus the entire rest of town. A Canadian arts and sciences student who plays lacrosse well proved she can handle red hair even better. [Posted 1.15.22]

ST. MICHAEL'S (VT): HOPE HISCOCK.

A three-week contest in New England came to down to Hope v. Grace. This Hope, a sophomore biology major and softball player, gave what one voter calld "high hopes in her high bangs" to win the final showdown over Grace Gallo by a 64% margin. [Final 1.1.22]

Third through fifth place: Danielle Cummings; Caroline Curley, Mikaela Langbacka tied.

WICHITA STATE: LINGWEI KONG.

As controversy arose about a missing Chinese tennis player, this money-winning player from GuangZhou said she's happy to be in Kansas. She's a graduate student focusing on sports management, and her two-toned long hair finished second in a Wichita City League contest. [Posted 11.27.21]

FAIRFIELD: ELLA GARDINER.

It's a victory for New Zealand - as a sophomore from that country (who played high school sports in southern California) won a three-woman scrum. We don't know her major, but this volleyball player lived up to her teenage award for leadership. [Final 11.20.21]

Second-third: Hanley Courter-Arden MacNeil tied.

ILLINOIS-SPRINGFIELD: JADE ANDERSON.

Hair Fans probably can't catch this sophomore communications major, because she runs in cross-country meets and steeplechases. She's lightened her look for fall, after finishing tied for third in a Springfield City League race. [Posted 11.6.21]

BOISE STATE: GENEVIEVE CRENSHAW.

She's a sophomore, a health studies major, a starting goalie on the soccer team with an average below one, the come-from-behind winner of a five-way contest with 70 percent of the Week 2 votes - and perhaps the first woman with purple in her hair to win on our website. [Final 10.30.21]

Second through fifth place: Kaylee Mejia; Ashley Hayden; Emily Mangan, Hailey Nicholls tied.

> QUINNIPIAC: EMILY FLAMME.

We found a great quote from her for our home page - then discovered her paper is student-run, and she's the editor. Then we realized this senior has long thick waves which are, as they say, fit to print. So fit that she won the "Elite Eight Week" contest for the top style of this season. [Posted 10.9.21]

YOUNGSTOWN STATE: REGAN LAVIGNA.

A "march of the Penguins" (the team nickname) ended with a junior nursing major and soccer forward leading a five-way contest. One Hair Fan called for "Livin' LaVigna loca", as she won the final round over goalie teammate Zeeyana Jivraj 9-2. [Final 9.30.21]

Third-fifth place: Julia Cseknyik-Zoe Figinsky tied; Claudia Bentley.

TENNESSEE: AVERY COLLINS.

The Volunteer cheerleading and dance teams have several exceptional hairstyles. This sophomore who aspires to be a nurse has emerged as the best - with blonde waves going on to win the Knoxville City League title. [Posted 9.4.21]

GEORGIA: MACKENZIE PUCKETT.

"Mack Puck," as she calls herself on social media, is a fifth-year transfer senior who majors in biology and moved north from Florida State. She emerged with 58 percent of the vote from a four-way fight involving softball players, with one Hair Fan saying the "top of her head" was the difference. [Final 8.26.21]

Second-fourth place: Sydney Kuma; CJ Landrum, Lauren Mathis tied.
