The 21st Annual Crown Awards

Super-Hair's biggest event of the year let you nominate women for the best hairstyles of 2020. Then you voted for the winners - and we announced those winners in a live Google Meeting video conference 9 March. Thanks for your input, and congratulations to all the women earning Crowns!

BEST SHORT HAIR: SAM BOIK.

She left Denver television for mortgage loans as the voting began. But what one voter called a borderline "bowl cut" paid off for her, winning a second consecutive major Crown by a nose.

Boik 27 percent, Regina Miller 25%, Andy Allo 18%, Logan Browning 17%, Erin Napier 13%.

BEST LONG HAIR: PAMELLA AZEREDO.

The Brazilian bombshell who loves to pretend to cut her mane made the rest of the field look like pretenders. She also wins back-to-back major Crowns.

Azeredo 42 percent, Daniela Bobadilla 20%, Carmela Zumbado 16%, Irina Deikalo 14%, Brec Bassinger 8%.

BEST CURLS: DASHIK GUBANOVA.

She doesn't have it curled all the time, but the Russian Instagram model did it enough to become the first-ever four-in-a-row winner of this category.

Gubanova 42 percent, Kheira Hamraoui 21%, Malika Andrews 17%, "Maeva" 11%, Aline Amaro 9%.

BEST BANGS: LISA VARLEY.

She calls herself the "Ageless Stylista" on social media, and used her platform to recruit for votes. Fans who call her bangs "best ever" responded, especially in Week 1.

Varney 39 percent, Asia Zielonka 24%, "Lisa" Manoban 20%, Taylor Swift 9%, Star Slade 8%.

BEST HAIRSTYLE ON TELEVISION: ANNAKA CHESNUTT.

A former TV reporter who's now a salesperson with Shop LC (formerly The Jewelry Channel). She defeated a superhero actress in the decisive final round of voting.

Chesnutt 32 percent, Brec Bassinger 30%, Lily Collins 17%, Jurnee Smollett 15%, Tania Raymonde 6%.

BEST HAIRSTYLE IN A MOVIE: DEMI MOORE.

The coronavirus changed this category, as we permitted films from online streaming services. After a narrow loss last year, the Hair Fan's Hall of Fame member gains a narrow win for Songbird.

Moore 33 percent, Melissanthi Mahut 32%, Joey King 17%, Issa Rae 9.4%, Shailene Woodley 8.6%.

BEST HAIRSTYLE IN MUSIC: BIANCA MARQUES.

Two past Crown winners went toe-to-toe from wire to wire. The Brazilian pop singer prevails with her third award in four years.

Marques 26 percent, Adele 23%, Rachael Price 23%, Margo Price 15%, Elena Yerevan 13%.

BEST HAIRSTYLE IN ATHLETICS: SARAH BACKMAN ROTUNDA.

Wrist wrestling went limp due to COVID-19, but this champ competed enough to be eligible for back-to-back Crowns. A longtime Crown winner remained stuck in fourth place.

Backman Rotunda 28 percent, Aari McDonald 20%. Leah Pruitt 20%, Victoria Azarenka 19%, Toni Storm 13%.

NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR: LORETTA GONZALES.

A second win for Shop LC, as "Lolo" has hair that one voter declared "stunning... voluptuous."

Gonzales 39 percent, Sinead D'arcy 21%, Malika Andrews 17%, "Lisa" Manoban 13%, Mahira Khan 10%.

BEST BLONDE: SAMANTHA PONDER.

The ESPN football host wins the "Blonde Battle" for the first time since 2016, giving her nine Crowns in seven years.

Ponder 29 percent, Alina Vainiute 27%, Brec Bassinger 22%, Colleen Wolfe 12%, Suzannah Lipscomb 9%.

BEST BRUNETTE: IRINA DEIKALO.

She calls herself a translator and journalist in Belarus, in addition to being an Instagram hair model. A lot of length may have helped her cause, as commenters noted that was a voting trend.

Deikalo 41 percent, Daniela Bobadilla 27%, Mina Kimes 19%, Carmela Zumbado 11%, Ayden Mayeri 2%.

BEST REDHEAD: "SILVI".

A model also known as "Corelips" scores the first-ever Crown for Poland. She held off a better-known defending winner.

Silvi 31 percent, Karen Gillan 30%, Julia Boorstin 16%, Rachel Nichols 13%, Jane Levy 10%.

BEST SILVER HAIR: "HILLARY B."

She wasn't as dominant as last year, but the "Silverstorm" model from Miami wins her second Silver Crown in a row. "Great choices," one voter wrote.

Hillary B. 26 percent, Caroline Labouchere 21%, Tarin Watson 21%, Jineen Marie 16%, Lisa Laflamme 15%.

BEST HAIRSTYLE IN JOURNALISM: SAM BOIK.

The Denver traffic reporter leaves the TV business with a second Crown, as she emerged from a four-way logjam in the final week. She's the only woman this year to win more than one award.

Boik 24 percent, Amy Andrews 22%, Luana Munoz 22%, Bianca Nobilo 21%, Satcha Pretto 13%.

MAKEOVER OF THE YEAR: "LISA" MANOBAN.

"K-pop" captures a Crown for the first time. The Blackpink singer who changed her long hair into a short cut dominated the first two weeks of voting.

Manoban 40 percent, Stacy Weaver 23%, Andy Allo 20%, Ginger Zee 12%, Linsey Godfrey 5%.

BEST HAIRSTYLE IN WEATHER/SCIENCE: LAURA TOBIN.

A surprise Crown for London and ITN. The Good Morning Britain forecaster came from behind in the final week, to take this category outside the U.S. for the first time.

Tobin 26 percent, Maria LaRosa 24%, Katie LaSalle 21%, Beth McLeod 18%, Lisa Hidalgo 11%.

BEST HAIRSTYLE IN GOVERNMENT/POLITICS: KELLY LOEFFLER.

She lost her U.S. Senate seat as the Crown voting opened, but no recount was needed for this woman from Georgia to claim victory.

Loeffler 38 percent, Ursula von der Leyen 27%, Kamala Harris 16%, Gretchen Whitmer 10%, Dana Nessel 9%.

BEST HAIRSTYLE IN SPORTS REPORTING: SARA WALSH.

She covers Tampa Bay for NFL Network (as well as soccer for Fox), and this longtime Hair Fan favorite joins the list of 2020 champions from that area.

Walsh 38 percent, Cassidy Hubbarth 22%, Rachel Nichols 22%, Colleen Wolfe 12%, Laura Rutledge 5%.

BEST PONYTAIL: VIKTORIJA JUKONYTE.

After winning EuroCup 2020 for Lithuania, the Instagram model leads our "Pony Race" as well. A report of voting problems in this category turned out not to matter, as she grabbed the highest percentage of any winner!

Jukonyte 45 percent, Erin Andrews 21%, Kheira Hamraoui 18%, Sue Bird 13%, Alessandra Ambrosio 4%.

BEST HAIR IN FINANCIAL REPORTING: JULIA BOORSTIN.

Some people suspect this CNBC correspondent took a stylist with her into COVID-19 quarantine. She wins her third Crown overall in four years, for hair called "always Super."

Boorstin 32 percent, Nicole Petallides 23%, Kelly Evans 22%, Alison Kosik 17%, Scarlett Fu 6%.

BEST HAIR IN A SOAP OPERA/TELENOVELA: SAIR KHAN.

A Crown heads down Coronation Street, as the British actress may have been helped by three General Hospital stars competing for the same votes.

Khan 38 percent, Kiara Barnes 31%, Kim Delaney 15%, Katelyn MacMullen 10%, Laura Wright 6%.

SUPER-HAIR WARS CHAMPION HAIRSTYLE OF THE YEAR: NIKU KAZORI.

Shame on us for discovering this San Antonio traffic reporter only as she left TV for married life in Japan. She dominated all six matches she won, gaining on average four times as many votes as her opponents.
